What is Woven UHMWPE Fabric？
The weight of UHMWPE fiber is only two-thirds that of aramid fiber and half that of carbon fiber. Moreover, UHMWPE fiber is recognized as the strongest fiber currently available. As a result, the fabric made from UHMWPE fiber is not just lightweight but also demonstrates excellent tensile strength and tear strength.
UHMWPE fiber is quite flexible and it can absorb energy during the process of plastic deformation. In fact, its energy absorption ability is 1.8 times that of carbon fiber, 2.6 times that of aramid fiber and 33 times that of glass fiber. Compared with the UD structure, UHMWPE woven fabric can combine with resin in a better way, which makes it more appropriate for composite reinforcement.
UHMWPE woven fabric possesses outstanding properties like low-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, UV resistance and high transmissivity, all of which can bring better performance to composites. It is suitable for both the reinforcement of hard composites and that of flexible composites.
