16×16 100GSM Carbon Fiber Spread Tow Description
16×16 100GSM Carbon Fiber Spread Tow is a high-performance composite material designed for lightweight, strong applications. The “16×16” refers to its plain weave structure—16 warp and 16 weft threads per inch—creating a balanced, isotropic fabric that distributes loads evenly in all directions. With a 100GSM (grams per square meter) areal weight, it’s thin and lightweight, ideal for aerospace, automotive, or sports equipment where mass reduction is critical.
Using spread tow technology, traditional carbon fiber tows are spread into thin ribbons before weaving, which eliminates fiber clustering and improves resin penetration. This results in a more uniform composite with higher interlaminar shear strength and reduced delamination risk. Made from high-tenacity carbon fibers, it offers an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, superior fatigue resistance, and chemical durability. The smooth plain weave surface also suits aesthetic or aerodynamic applications, while compatibility with epoxy and thermoplastic matrices enhances its manufacturing versatility.
